There’s nothing I love more than a serendipitous moment. And that’s what happened when I first came across the lovely designs of Canadian-born, New York-based designer, Kaelen Haworth. I originally came across a few prints of her line, aptly named Kaelen, through a friend’s Instagram. I was instantly drawn in and immediately fell in love with how she mixed these modern graphics with classic lines. Her pieces conveyed a sophisticated look only a few designers can achieve (at an excellent price point) for the above average, 20-something female style savant.
My connection to the clothes was fate and I was eager to get in touch and meet the lady who’s collections hit home, time and time again. And hit home they did, as Ms. Haworth was actually a fellow Canadian and close friend to mine. Knowing me as well as you do now from the blog, I took that chance discovery as a sign to get in touch and learn more.
Luckily, I was able to hang out with the Kaelen team and their Soho showroom this past NYFW and learn a bit more about a couple current ventures. From her recent eCommerce site launch and to her collection with with New York It-Girl, Hannah Bronfman, there’s no slowing this team down. Her latest S/S ’14 designs includes beautiful, texture-rich pieces with multi-dimensional layers and an attention to detail right down to the uniquely stitched seams.
