Well it feels good to be back on Canadian soil! I took a mini-break last week as I deemed my extended boyfriend visit a holiday, and made a quick hop and a jump over to NYC for six days. It’s amazing how hard it is to take a break; I had to constantly force myself not to check emails, Instagram everything or write for the brief time I was off. While I missed my excessive posting and sharing, it was definitely a much-needed minute to slow down the pace and I already feel recharged and more full of ideas than ever.
New York is always a wonderful little jaunt. Can you believe this was my first time spending a full six days in NYC? Usually I’m there for barely 72 hours so it was incredible to explore and try new things, while still getting to see the people I love and enjoy old favourites. It was easily the best time I’ve had in the Big Apple and I would be lying if I said I was ready to leave!
I was lucky to snap a few quick photos on the way to dinner before my flight (thanks to this guy), and I love how these shots captured a few local corners and offered a chance to showcase my winter staple, this Ann Taylor coat, in a more casual look. I don’t think a week of winter has gone by that I haven’t rocked this item once or twice. I love how it’s perfect for evening but I can also freshen it up for daytime with a colour block knit scarf. These pieces always make The A List and though I’m dreaming of warmer weather, it’s nice to know I have these beauties to heat me up!
I am the first to admit I am a serious overpacker, so I love owning pieces that make travel a lighter task. This statement jacket and these leather leggings are warm enough to get through winter weather without compromising fashion and comfort. And as if I needed to snap these shoes again but seriously I do not know where I’d be without these Le Chateau black boots. I literally get stopped on the street for these puppies and it’s just a bonus that they’re so comfortable I can wear them all day to tour the neighbourhood and into the night when I’m ready to take on the town.
What have you been rocking on your A List as winter staples? I know (I hope) we’re almost in the cold weather clear but let me know with a comment!
