I want to write something, even if it’s nothing.
I apologize for my inability to form a functioning blog post. I fear I’m at that breaking point of needing a nap, an extra dirty vodka martini and perhaps my mum to hug me and pet my hair.
Is this typically where people say, “”tis the season.”?
Those people are starting to make my blood boil and it’s not even December 24th…meep. I’ve most certainly developed an attitude problem; one that requires a major adjustment prior to the beauty that is the holidays. I want to be in a stronger mindset to appreciate and absorb it all!
How do I get there?! H O W ?
When I get in these hashtag current moods, first I find all the memes that perfectly encapsulate my crustiness and send them to my friends so they can laugh and mock me and remind me of all the good vibes in my life.
For that I love them. I need that and them.
But in all seriousness, I’m all for giving yourself time to be mad, unhappy or sad.
I think this is something I need to expand on writing about in the new year. Today’s not the day for long-winded emotions (except that’s basically what’s happening rn).
And really it is an important step in my attitude adjustment process. I allow myself the opportunity to feel negatively while knowing that there needs to be a cutoff time to that emotion and in exchange you plan for action.
Feeling negatively has its place but you cannot let it overpower your desire for change and to learn from that experience. As we come in to a new year I’m actively focused on sharing more about my personal coping mechanisms when things are good and bad in the hopes that you find some value in it.
Once you allow yourself to go through those emotions you’re more levelheaded and better equipped to focus on what needs to change, what went well and how you can bridge the gap. This works for everything from a failed business attempt, a fight with a significant other or friend and yes, even a simple attitude adjustment brought on by stress. More to come on this soon…
For now I’m heading to NYC with my family on Friday and traveling with my monkey for the first time! It’ll be quite the experience and I’m sure well documented on Insta Stories and Snapchat (username: @lexniko).
I’m going to be reading this book during my weekend away and am excited to give you a review.
